We recently purchased some brewing equipment from a brewery in San Francisco: Armstrong Brewing Co. Though we have yet to visit the establishment, our friends did, and said the beer was great. Plus, the guys working there were awesome to work with. So if you find yourself in South San Fran, check them out!
So, what equipment did we buy that was located nearly 2,600 miles away? Brite tanks!!!
Now you are probably thinking, "What the heck is a Brite tank, and are three exclamation points really necessary?"
Well, a Brite tank is a tank that the beer is transferred to after primary fermentation. The beer in this tank will begin to clarify and be carbonated. Once the beer has reached its desired level of carbonation, it will be ready to serve. And the thought of serving beer is the reason for the three exclamation points!!!
So where are these vessels now? As I write this they are making their way to Indianapolis, IN. Depending on weather conditions they should be arriving in Lansing by the middle of next week.
The Brites are somewhere between Los Angeles and Indianapolis! Go Brites, Go!
Once in Lansing, the tanks will have to be transferred to a truck with a lift-gate (no loading dock at Dimes). Once in the building, they will be placed in the cold storage area of the basement. You may never see these tanks in person, but know they will be quietly carbonating and serving craft beer to the Village of Dimondale.
